Mumbai: Officials of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seized a large stock of clove sticks worth Rs 2.24 crore, whose powder is allegedly used for adulteration, an official said here on Saturday.
The seizure was made on information and during an inspection of Rishi Cold Storage at Turbhe MIDC in neighbouring New Mumbai city.
The joint commissioner of the FDA, J Deshmukh said samples have been sent for analysis and legal action will be initiated on the basis of the report.
The action follows instructions from the minister of the Food and Drug Administration Department, Dharmarao Baba Atram, for taking strict action against adulteration.
