Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar on Thursday said the state police has given a clean chit to BJP leader KS Eshwarappa in the alleged Santosh Patil suicide case to maintain the dignity of Basavaraj Bommai’s government.

“During the investigation of the Santosh Patil suicide, the Chief Minister (Bommai), (BS) Yediyurappa, and Home Minister (Araga Janendra) had already given a clean chit to him (Eshawarappa). This brought pressure on the investigators. B report has been submitted to maintain the dignity of the government. Everyone is aware of the facts in this case,” he told reporters here.

Shivakumar alleged that the government has not provided justice to Patil’s family members, despite the deceased dragging the name of Eshwarappa in demanding 40 percent commission for the work order he completed.

Patil had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi complaining about Eshwarappa’s corruption as RDPR Minister, he said.

“Not only Patil but also Ministers Govinda Karajola, Ramesh Jarakiholi, and Murugesh Nirani, had stated that the deceased had completed the civil work in Belagavi district. Patil’s wife had also shot off a letter to Governor Thawarchand Gehlot. However, the government has not provided justice to them,” Shivakumar said.

The Congress leader said will not lose sight of the “40 percent commission government”.
