Churachandpur: True to its commitment to show compassion and extend a humane touch to the internally displaced persons taking shelter at different relief camps in the district, the Churachandpur District administration is making constant efforts to show deepest empathy and emotional support to the people affected by the unrest in the State.
Apart from distributing relief materials to the IDPs, the District Administration has continued taking up compassionate activities to empathise with the IDPs.
On Saturday, Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar hosted a dinner for children of various relief centres yesterday at his official residence wherein he dined together with the children. About 45 children from different relief centres joined the DC in the dinner.
The Deputy Commissioner also handed them sports and recreational items. Interacting with the children, the DC identified himself as their ‘friend’ and was ever ready to help them.
Showing concern and compassion for internally displaced persons, the Deputy Commissioner and other officials of the District routinely visited relief centres and interacted with the IDPs, particularly the children. Besides ensuring that all welfare measures are in place at the centres, the district administration is trying hard to send the message that they (IDPs) are not alone in their trying times. Occasionally, the DC and other officials of the District have dinner together with the IDPs and civil society organisations’ leaders. Also, skills are imparted to the IDPs at their camps.
“Relief distribution goes beyond just providing essential supplies – it is about demonstrating compassion and empathy towards fellow citizens who are facing hardships. Every relief package, every meal and every helping hand extended is a gesture that reaffirms our commitment to each other’s well-being,” Dharun Kumar said.
So far, over 9882 bags of rice, 2135 bags of dal, 1468 bags of potatoes, and several other food items such as onion, cooking oil, sugar, nutrela, pumpkin, mattress, mosquito nets, bedsheets, etc have been distributed to about 16,000 IDPs who are sheltered at about 105 different relief centres in the district.
These relief materials have been provided through philanthropic organisations who are manning the relief centres. Besides, medical supplies and water supply are being provided through Chief Medical Officer and the district’s PHED respectively.
It is pertinent to mention here Dharun Kumar, in his Independence Day speech last week, underlined that “While our relief efforts provide immediate assistance, let’s remember that our journey doesn’t end here. We are committed to the long-term well-being of our citizens.”
“Disaster can impact any of us unexpectedly and it is during these moments that we witness the remarkable spirit of our District,” Dharun Kumar said and added that the relief efforts have been possible due to the tireless work of numerous individuals, volunteers, organisations and government agencies.
Acknowledging the contributions of all particularly local organisations, community groups and various individuals in the relief operations since the beginning of the unrest, the Deputy Commissioner said that the successes achieved so far are the sum total of the collaborative efforts.
