China demands Lithuania withdraw envoy in row over Taiwan

Beijing: China’s foreign ministry said on Tuesday that it had asked Lithuania to withdraw its ambassador to Beijing after the Baltic state allowed Taiwan to open a de facto embassy there.

The ministry further said it would also recall its envoy to Vilnius over the dispute, Al Jazeera reported.

China claims Taiwan as a part of its territory and not as an independent country.
