Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday dismissed an objection raised by Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra over the “manner in which interstate protocol was violated” by Chhattisgarh Police while arresting godman Kalicharan Maharaj on the charge of making a derogatory remark against Father of the Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
Meanwhile, the charge of treason has been added during the investigation against the accused.
“Our police followed rules and procedure and duly informed Khajuraho counterparts. Is Dr Mishra sad or happy over the fact that Kalicharan has been apprehended?”Baghel quipped.
City police issued a statement that a case was registered under sections 294 and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code against the accused at Tikrapara Police Station in the wake of words spoken during a Dharm Sansad at Ravanbhata on Sunday. On the basis of evidence gathered during the inquiry; sections 153A(1)(a), 153B(1)(a), 295A, 505(1)(b) and 124A were appended.
The law-enforcement team that arrested Kalicharan is expected to return here by late evening.
