Chandel: As celebrated all over the country, the District Administration Chandel celebrated the 75th Independence Day at district headquarters, DC complex Sunday.
The celebration started with the inspection of the guard of honour and hosting of the Tricolour along with the National Anthem by the Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, Mayanglambam Rajkumar.
Superintendent of Police, Chandel, L.Deben Singh, CO 8MR Somendro Singh, and CO 18 Assam Rifles Ajit Khetri were also present as special invitees.
All the DLOs and other officials of the district were also present in Sunday’s function.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner at the very outset congratulated the district officials and the whole public of the district, on Chandel becoming the number one district amongst all the Aspirational Districts in the country. He said that it was only possible because each and everyone working for the development of the district had given their best in their own capacities.
Speaking about the developments in the health sector the deputy commissioner said that the Labour Room in the district hospital has been LaQshya certified and it will be of great benefit for the people of Chandel. He further said that under the Aspirational district program, separate male and female wards are being built at Komlathabi primary health centre and a modern public health sub-centre and staffs quarter are also being constructed at Anal Khullen to replace the old wooden structure of the centre. He also mentioned the recently inaugurated Oxygen generation plant at the district hospital and also said that another plant of half the present capacity will also be installed very soon.
Speaking about the progress on the educational front he said that being an Aspirational district, under the founding of the RC foundation for converting classrooms into Smart classrooms, AR projectors, which are highly advanced and IT enable projectors, had been distributed not only to the government but also to private schools. He also said that independent water pumps were also distributed to all the schools to solve the water problems. He further said that under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India in collaboration with IBSD, Imphal a science museum had been established at Maha Union Hr. Sec. School. He opined that it will help in increasing the scientific temper amongst the student community of the district.
Enumerating about the other development initiatives being taken up he mentioned the proposed Children Amusement park, which is being proposed to be set up near district headquarter, he also mentioned that work is in progress for optical fibre connection for easy mobile and internet connectivity, tape water to every household in the district etc.
While concluding his speech, the deputy commissioner said that some of the developmental projects had already been completed and many are in progress and asked the people of the district to give full cooperation and support in successfully implementing these projects.
