Centre committed to preserve diversity of NE region: Amit Shah

Guwahati: Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that the Centre was committed to preserving the culture, tradition and diversity of the North-Eastern region.
Addressing the gathering at a function here, Shah said the diversity of the North-Eastern states is an asset of the nation and BJP led government at the centre is fully committed to preserving it.
Shah who is on a two-day visit to North East, on his second-day visit inaugurated several government-funded projects in Assam.
Talking about peace pacts with insurgent groups in the region, Shah said Narendra Modi government has not only to strike peace deals but have also implemented the clauses of the same.
“For last many decades Congress government at the centre has stuck so many peace pacts but none was implemented. Look at Bodo, Bru accord signs recently we have implemented the majority of the promises made on these accords,” Shah said adding that it was Congress which only gave lip service to solve the burning problem of the region.
He said that Narendra Modi government have succeeded in making people of North East understand its not agitation but cooperation and hard work which goes a long way to solve the irritating issue between the government and its citizen.
Making his first trip to Assam after the formation of the second BJP led government in the state, Shah said the seeds of development were sown by the first BJP government in Assam and now it’s time to make a solid foundation.

During his two day visit which came to an end today, Shah met chief ministers of eight northeastern states in Shillong yesterday to iron out issues on inter-state border disputes. He also inaugurated several projects in Meghalaya as we’ll as in Assam.
