Central team tours Sikkim’s landslide-hit areas

Gangtok: An Inter-Ministerial Central team led by Joint Secretary, Union Home Ministry, Anant Kishore, visited the landslide-devastated areas in Sikkim’s Pakyong district on Saturday.


The six-member team, also includes officers from Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Affairs, Finance/Expenditure and Rural Developments, and engineers from Road and Transport, Jal Shakti and Central Water Commission.


The Officers, on a three-day visit to the state, interacted with Cardamom farmers.


The farmers informed the officials about hurdles in cultivation due to slides that have led to a huge decrease in output.


The affected areas visited by IMCT on Saturday included Assam Linzey, Changey Santi, Lal Turung and Gaurigaon. They were shown around the areas by Sikkim Relief Commissioner cum Secretary Land Revenue and Disaster Management Anil Raj Rai.
