Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh led the state in celebrating the election of Draupadi Murmu as the 15th President of India.
A rally was taken out led by CM N Biren Singh at Kangla on Thursday night.
All night long celebrations were organized by the BJP and its allies. N Biren said, “Heartiest congratulations to Draupadi Murmu on being elected as the President of India. For the first time in our history, a tribal woman has become the President of India. It is undoubtedly a historic day, especially for the North-East which has a large tribal population.”
He added, “In a year when the nation is observing the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, we are immensely proud that the highest office of this land will be occupied by a self-made woman who belongs to a tribal community.”
