Shillong: A three-day meeting between Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has commenced at the BSF’s Meghalaya frontier headquarters on Saturday, BSF officials said.
The BGB delegation consisting of 10 members is led by Tanveer Gani Chowdhury, Additional Director General, Region Commander of South East Region Chattogram.
While BSF delegation is headed by Susanta Kumar Nath, Inspector General BSF Tripura Frontier along with 11 members from Meghalaya, Guwahati, Silchar and Tripura Frontier.
The BGB delegation was welcomed by senior BSF officials at the Integrated Check Point, Dawki. BSF officials informed that representative from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs and Narcotic Control Bureau are also attending the bi-annual meeting.
The meeting is held bi-annually alternatively in India and Bangladesh. These meetings hold discussions on a number of issues that are important for the two border guarding forces.
Issues such as smuggling of cattle, drugs, fake Indian currency notes, contraband items and to resolve the matters having security bearing along the Indo-Bangladesh border to maintain peace
and tranquility would be discussed between the two sides.
