Imphal: A powerful bomb blasted at Uripok, Imphal West on Monday evening.
The impact of the blast could be felt by large numbers of people at Uripok.
Police said the blast occurred inside the residence of RIMS Director, Dr. A Santa. The Director does not stay at his residence.
No one was injured as the bomb fell in a pond inside the residential campus.
It was suspected that the persons who threw the bomb must have come in a two-wheeler and they escaped after throwing the bomb.
Imphal West police personnel rushed and started a probe.
The debris from the pond was scattered on the roads and nearby places.
It was not yet known who was responsible for the blast. CCTV footage in the area was also scanned. Visibility was low as the incident occurred late at night, the source said.
The blast occurred when the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Imphal (RIMS) was celebrating its entry into the Institute in the top 50 best medical institutes in the country for the fourth consecutive year.
No other medical institute from the northeast could not figure in the top 50 list.
