Kyiv: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, international media reported citing Ukrainian officials.
The visit marks the most senior US officials to visit Ukraine since Russia’s invasion began on Feb 24. The visit was confirmed by Zelensky adviser, Oleksiy Arestovich, in an interview on YouTube.
“They’re right now in Kyiv, talking to the president,” Arestovich said. “Maybe something will be decided regarding how they can help.”
The Biden administration is yet to confirm the meeting, however, the Ukrainian president in a briefing on Saturday said people from the US are coming tomorrow.
“Tomorrow we will be discussing the list of weapons which we need,” Zelensky had said, reports The Hill.
The visit comes after Biden on Thursday announced that the US will send Ukraine another $800 million in military aid.
