Agartala: Election campaign in Tripura reached at peak on Tuesday where Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and opposition leader of West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari led the BJP’s campaign trail across the state with a series of public meetings and road shows.

While Rajnath Singh addressed two rallies, Adityanath in three rallies and one roadshow in the city, Himanta addressed four rallies and Adhikari spoke to three election rallies in different districts.

CM Manik Saha and party president Rajib Bhattacharjee addressed as many as 10 rallies and participated in the door-to-door campaigns in their respective constituencies.

Union Home minister Amit Shah addressed two big rallies in South Tripura and Khowai district on Monday followed by a roadshow in the city and a series of meetings with the rallies from Monday night to Tuesday morning before he left the state.

Shah is coming again next week to hold rallies in North Tripura and Dhalai while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to campaign in Tripura on Saturday and Monday.

Similarly, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee held a rally on Tuesday.

Top leaders of opposition CPI-M and Tripura including Sitaram Yechury and Priyanka Gandhi are scheduled to hold rallies in poll-bound Tripura next week.

Addressing the rallies BJP leaders highlighted the development and peace. They criticized Congress and alleged it has a history of cheating the country and is once again depriving and making the people fool with CPIM.

“You have to be aware of them. Congress has ruled the country for many years but their development schemes never touched any villages. Congress will always play with your fair and belief. Congress has raised questions over the existence of lord Ram and Krishna,” Adityanath alleged.
