Jalal, a petty contractor and leader of the ruling party, alleged that local BJP leaders have been fighting with him after he installed a statue of former President and Missile man of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam on his 90th birth anniversary last year at his house. They pressurised him to dismantle Kalam’s statue, alleging that the party did not like it.

“The heavily armed Pritam Sarkar and his team on Tuesday night stopped me on the road while I was on my way back home and threatened me and asked me to pull down the statue of Dr Kalam before unfurling the national flag on Republic Day, otherwise, I will be killed. But I unfurled the national flag and offered my tribute to India’s Missile man in the morning and then rushed to the police station and lodged a complaint against them,” Jalal said in the video, which went viral.

According to the allegation, in the evening, police from R K Pur police station visited Jalal’s house an hour after the departure of the police, the miscreants allegedly stormed the house breaking the gate and ransacked everything including the statue. Jalal along with his family members managed to hide in an isolated place in the house and aired the video urging to rescue him as sound of the attackers can also be heard in the video.
