Bishnupur district celebrates Independence Day

Commendations and appreciation certificates were given to several government employees, Covid Frontline Workers, Task Forces and Social Workers for rendering outstanding services in the last one year.

Bishnupur: The District Administration of Bishnupur Sunday celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day at New Mini Secretariat Complex in Bishnupur Sunday. Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar unfurled the national flag and took a salute from the two lone contingents of this year’s celebration. Bishnupur Civil Police and VDF Band Party participated in the parade commanded by Sub Inspector Thokchom Chingthangkhomba Singh.

Commendations and appreciation certificates were given to several government employees, Covid Frontline Workers, Task Forces and Social Workers for rendering outstanding services in the last one year. 

Notably, the top two girl students securing the highest marks in BOSEM and the top three girl students in COHSEM Exams 2020-21 from the district were also felicitated with meritorious awards on this auspicious occasion. Three Pradhans achieving the highest Child Sex Ratios were also presented with appreciation certificates.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar remarked the day as not only a special day but also an emotional moment for all Indians as the whole nation celebrates Independence Day with pride and honour. On this auspicious occasion of the 75th anniversary of Independence Day, let us recall together the supreme sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, martyrs and forefathers. Let us also recall their struggle and contributions to the nation. The path and legacy they have shown to us have to be continued, he said. 

Highlighting achievements made by the several line departments in the district, the Deputy Commissioner conveyed his sincere note of gratitude to COVID frontline warriors who have done a tremendous job since the onset of the Covid pandemic. The DC further stated that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Bishnupur top the State in terms of vaccination per team average achievement. It is an indication that the district is moving in the right direction and pace with the right spirit, he continued. He also stated that the District Hospital has been selected for the Kayakalp Award 2020-21 which is a great achievement for the district. He also informed that the district is among the top-performing districts of the country on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav observation. 

Mentioning various plans for upcoming programs, he said that modernization of schools with career guidance-centric curriculum system will be introduced. He also mentioned that energy and potential of youth has to be channelized in the right direction to make them as assets for the district and nation. For the welfare of farmers, modernization of farming through technology incorporated farming also needs to be introduced, he stated. 

Speaking on the current covid pandemic, the Deputy Commissioner urged the public to get vaccinated as vaccination is the only way to save lives from the pandemic. He also appealed to DLOs and officials to reach out to people around them and motivate them for vaccination. 

In the face of the dreaded covid pandemic, Sunday’s Independence Day celebration adopted strict safety guidelines like social distancing and wearing of masks. Dignitaries like SP Bishnupur, Sapam Hopson, ADM Bishnupur Bobby Sharma, Bishnupur SDO Mamoni Doley, DLOs, CSO leaders, officials of the district among others warmly graced the ceremony.

Mention may be made that due to Covid pandemic, all the SDO offices and Gram Panchayats in the district also celebrated on a smaller scale apart from the district level celebration at the Mini Secretariat complex.
