Kolkata: Casting strong aspersion on the way recruitment of consultants to senior slots was being executed, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday sought from the state government details about mechanism and modalities for engagement.
The governor alleged that he had received “worrisome inputs indicating that the mechanism is opaque and has all trappings of extending favouritism & patronage’.’
Seeking details from Chief Secretary H K Dwivedi about the engagement of senior consultants/ consultants, he tweeted, “Consultants recruitment @MamataOfficial leaves all to be desired.”
Describing the declared selection mechanism as “ex facie subjective, sketchy, non-transparent, arbitrary”, the Governor said, “It does not appear to be fair, equitable on account of absence of specific details relating to this in the public domain.”
“Serious issues have been raised from several quarters regarding consultants’ recruitment in respect of lack of transparency, accountability and modalities of the selection process,” he stated.
“Already recruitment in some categories @MamataOfficial is under (the) judicial scanner,” the Governor added.
