Bangladeshi national dies in Tripura hospital

Agartala: A Bangladeshi national succumbed to his injuries in North Tripura district hospital at Dharmanagar last night who was injured after falling down on a hard and blunt object when villagers of Shanicherra along the Indo-Bangladesh border chased him last week.

Police said in the intervening night of June 13/14, Indian villagers had noticed a suspicious movement of four unknown persons in their village. On being chased three of them could manage to escape taking the advantage of darkness. However, one of them had fallen down at the border and sustained serious injuries.

The villagers evacuated him in an unconscious condition and shifted to the local hospital. Later, he was referred to the district hospital in critical condition. During questioning the accused was only able to reveal his identity as Suman Munda (27) of Kalamati village under Jari police station in Moulvibazar district of Bangladesh due to his poor health conditions.

However, Border Guards of Bangladesh has sent a protest note, and BSF has been verifying the credentials of the deceased before handing over the body to Bangladesh, police added.
