Bajpai taks charge of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Manipur

Imphal: Anurag Bajpai, IFS (1994), has taken charge of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force (HoFF), Manipur effective from August 12, 2024. Anurag Bajpai, a distinguished officer of the Indian Forest Service (IFS) has had an extensive career spanning over three decades in various capacities with the Government of India and Government of Manipur. Bajpai brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.

Bajpai holds an impressive academic background with a Master of Science (MSc) in Forestry, a Master of Arts (MA) in Economics, and a PG Diploma in Financial Management. His educational qualifications complement his vast professional experience, making him a valuable asset to the Forest Department of Manipur. 

Prior to his current appointment, Bajpai served in numerous key positions across various Ministries in the Government of India. Notably, he held the position of Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, where he played a pivotal role in enhancing the nation’s defence capabilities. 

In Manipur, Bajpai has held significant positions within the Forest Department, including Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Admn & Planning) and Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife Environment & Biodiversity). He has also served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Mission for Economic Empowerment of Traditional Artisans & Craftsmen (MEETAC) and contributed to the Department of Textiles Commerce & Industry.

Bajpai’s previous assignments also include his tenure as Director (Skills, Women Empowerment, Finance Corporation) with additional charge as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, and as Director (NGO Division) in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. His diverse experience in both state and central government roles has equipped him with a deep understanding of environmental conservation, economic empowerment, and sustainable development. 

As the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of the Forest Force, Manipur, Bajpai is expected to lead the state’s forest management efforts with a focus on sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, and the welfare of the local communities dependent on forest resources. Bajpai’s leadership is anticipated to bring innovative solutions to the challenges faced by Manipur’s forests and wildlife, ensuring the protection and preservation of the state’s rich natural heritage, stated a press note from the DFO/Central Forest Division.
