Babina Group launches ‘Paamel Foundation’ to support underprivileged people

The main objective of the initiative is to support the underprivileged section of society, said Dr Dhabli Thangjam, Managing Director of the Group, while launching the foundation.

Imphal: Babina Group of Companies, one of the largest conglomerates of entities operating in the fields of healthcare and hospitality sectors in Manipur, Saturday announced the launch of “Paamel Foundation”, a registered charitable organization under its CSR initiative.

The main objective of the initiative is to support the underprivileged section of society, said Dr Dhabli Thangjam, Managing Director of the Group, while launching the foundation.

Free health camps, Free cervical Cancer Screening, Hep C, Hep B and HIV screening, a special concession for chronically ill patients, supporting children homes, sponsoring social and cultural events, environmental awareness activities and promotion of sports and games are some of the initiatives which will be taken up under its initiative, said Dr Dhabli, and added that Rs 20 lakh will be utilized for the next one year under the “Paamel Foundation”.

Dr Dhabli expressed the hope that some of its long-cherished dreams of providing innovative solutions and support in the areas of health, education, sports and economic welfare will be achieved through Paamel Foundation. 

The Foundation will draw its strengths from the success of the Babina Group in its endeavours and bring tangible change and improvement in the lives of the marginalised sections of society.

Dr Dhabli also narrated the long journey of Babina Group, where its first flagship unit – Babina Diagnostics was first set up in 1983 as a small clinical laboratory. 

With the formation of Babina Healthcare and Hospitality Industries in 2007, the company diversified into the hospitality sector and set up The Classic Hotel, a 3-star category hotel in 2009 and Classic Grande, a 4-Star Hotel in 2015, The Classic Group runs the Classic Hospitality Training Institute that provides diploma and short certificate hospitality courses. The group also manages Hotel Imphal and Sendra Resort properties under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model.
