Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday recorded 20 Covid-19 infections, the lowest daily case count ever.

When other states (Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu) have been witnessing daily cases ranging from 20,00-20,000, Uttar Pradesh has restricted the daily-case count to below 100 for four weeks in a row, official sources said.

Covid test positivity rate (TPR) — the number of positive cases against the total tests done — has dropped to 0.01 percent, the lowest in the country.

This rate was at its highest at 16.84 percent on April 24 and now remains even lower than the lowest post first wave of covid-19.

Uttar Pradesh’s positivity rate has been registering a steady decline for several days indicating that the dangerous Covid wave is receding in the state, in contrast to states like Kerala which has failed to register any reduction and have a positivity rate of 13 percent, the sources added.
The Active Caseload in the most populous Uttar Pradesh now stands at 545 which has been brought down by a remarkable 99.8 percent from its peak capped at 3,10,783 cases on April 30.

None of the 75 districts reported fresh infections in double-digits, indicating that the dangerous second wave of the virus is ebbing.
Sparsely populated states like Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu account for a heavy Active Caseload of 1,77,091, 74,944 and 20,407 respectively.
