Moreh: In a dedicated effort to reinforce its enduring bond with the veteran fraternity and border communities, the Assam Rifles conducted a comprehensive Veteran Outreach and Welfare Mela at Moreh, Tengnoupal District, Manipur. The event served as a vital platform to address welfare-related grievances, facilitate meaningful interactions and extend essential services to the far-flung border regions. The initiative witnessed an active response, drawing 40 Ex-Servicemen, 15 Veer Naris and 20 local youth.
Central to the day’s proceedings was a mega medical camp organised by specialist healthcare teams of the force. The camp provided thorough health screenings, expert medical consultations and distributed essential medicines to the beneficiaries, significantly boosting preventive healthcare access in the remote border town. Furthermore, to ease the procurement of daily necessities, a Canteen Stores Department (CSD) extension counter was established, enabling eligible veterans and Veer Naris to purchase authorised household commodities close to home. The mela also featured a vibrant motivational interaction where serving Assam Rifles personnel engaged with the veterans and local youth. The exchange highlighted the glorious traditions of the Armed Forces, inspiring the younger generation to embrace values of patriotism, discipline and selfless service while motivating them to choose a career in uniform. This meaningful outreach underscored the unwavering commitment of the Assam Rifles towards nation-building, reinforcing mutual trust and strengthening civil-military cooperation
