Imphal: In a comprehensive effort to reinforce regional security, foster mutual trust and drive social transformation, Assam Rifles organized multi-location security interactions and community welfare initiatives across Chandel, Imphal West and Churachandpur districts of Manipur on 04 and 05 August 2026. The series of events successfully combined strategic security reviews with public welfare mandates, emphasizing close coordination between security forces and local stakeholders to maintain peace and stability in the region.
On 04 August 2026, Assam Rifles convened a security interaction at Joupi in Chandel District, drawing active participation from 20 representatives across 16 villages. The gathering provided a vital platform for village leaders to present local concerns, exchange views on the prevailing security situation and deliberate on collective measures for regional development. Assam Rifles reassured the delegates of continuous support towards public welfare while stressing the imperative of timely information sharing and mutual cooperation to build a peaceful environment conducive to sustained growth. The village representatives appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed their support towards maintaining peace and harmony.
Continuing the civil-military engagement on 05 August 2026, Assam Rifles held a security meeting at Company Operating Base Komlakhong in Imphal West District to review the internal security situation in view of the upcoming Independence Day 2026 celebrations. The meeting was attended by 31 local stakeholders, including prominent civilian dignitaries such as N Achoubi Devi (General Secretary, Komlakhong Meira Paibi Association), L Samungou Singh (Secretary, Sun Light Club Laphupat Tera), N Sadananda Singh (Secretary, Youth Organisation Club Laphupat Tera), Waris Ahmed (President, Youth Development Association, Phoubakchao), and Md Abasi (Secretary, Anti-Drug Committee, Phoubakchao). Discussions focused on crucial security measures, joint efforts to uphold law and order, and proactive strategies to combat extortion, drug abuse and threats to community safety. Local leaders highlighted their ongoing efforts against the drug menace and pledged full cooperation with security forces to avert any security challenges.
Aligning with the national theme of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Assam Rifles simultaneously conducted an awareness drive on drug misuse and rehabilitation across Hengkot, T. Kuangkhai Village and Sangaikot Village in Churachandpur District on 05 August 2026. Attended by 100 villagers, the initiative educated participants on the physical, psychological and social ramifications of substance abuse. Interactive sessions focused on early identification of addiction, preventive measures and available rehabilitation facilities, highlighting the critical role of family and community support in enabling recovery. Through these integrated civil action initiatives, Assam Rifles reinforced its commitment to social responsibility and community well-being while strengthening civil-military bonds across Manipur.
