Assam Rifles conducts successful anti-smuggling operations in Manipur

Imphal: On October 6, 2024, Assam Rifles successfully thwarted multiple smuggling attempts during a series of operations across Manipur.

Based on intelligence inputs, three vehicles were intercepted at Thamlapokpi, where 11,000 kg of areca nuts, valued at ₹91.63 lakh, were found hidden beneath grocery items. Six individuals from Sora, Thoubal district, were apprehended, and the vehicles were confiscated.

In a separate operation at New Songyang village, Moltuk, Assam Rifles uncovered 8,800 kg of areca nuts worth ₹76 lakh, hidden in a farm hut.

Additionally, during an area domination patrol at Wamku Junction, troops discovered 10 soap cases of brown sugar, valued at ₹28 lakh, concealed in bushes.

All recovered items were handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation, according to a press release from the PRO, IGAR(S).
