Chandel: Assam Rifles organised a comprehensive pre-recruitment medical screening camp on 20 Jul 2026 at Shalluk village in Chandel district in a dedicated effort to empower local youth and guide them toward a rewarding career in the Armed Forces. The initiative aimed to assess and prepare local aspirants for the upcoming Territorial Army recruitment rallies.
A total of 30 prospective candidates, including both young men and women, participated in the camp with immense zeal. The assessments were conducted under the direct supervision of the Force’s Regimental Medical Officer. The examination entailed a meticulous, full-spectrum assessment adhering to official military standards. Key checks included visual acuity, colour vision and clinical examination of ears and tonsils. Furthermore, the screening encompassed dental evaluation, general skin conditions and neurological reflexes alongside physical measurements such as height, weight, pulse and blood pressure. Specific orthopedic assessments were also carried out to screen structural deformities like knock knees and flat feet.
Beyond the medical checks, the Medical Officer counselled candidates on corrective measures for minor physical deficiencies, tailored fitness regimens and diet plans to ensure optimal readiness for the formal recruitment rally. Guiding local youth into the national mainstream and empowering them with confidence remains a core priority of the forces. This proactive effort was warmly appreciated by candidates and village elders, further strengthening the bond between the security forces and the local populace.
