Imphal: From 4 to 6 May 2025, Assam Rifles personnel carried out a comprehensive social welfare initiative across the villages of Laphupat Tera, Konuma, Phabakchao and Komlakhong, situated on the eastern bank of Loktak Lake. A total of 50 villagers from each location benefitted from the programme, which was aimed at curbing the spread of malaria and other vector-borne diseases during the vulnerable monsoon season.

The activity combined proactive sanitation measures with community engagement. Intensive spraying of Malathion was undertaken in residential areas and drainage systems to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds. Alongside this, troops conducted interactive awareness sessions to highlight the importance of hygiene, the use of mosquito nets, and recognising early symptoms of malaria to ensure timely medical intervention.

The initiative was warmly received by the local population, with village authorities expressing gratitude for the timely support. The combined efforts of officials and troops underscored the significance of preventive healthcare and strengthened the bond between the force and the community. By safeguarding public health, the programme reflected the enduring commitment to fostering resilience and well-being in the valley.
