Bishnupur: The Assam Rifles organised sustained civil-military engagement initiatives across Manipur on 18 July 2026 to strengthen community confidence, promote youth empowerment and foster greater public cooperation. Aligning with the national theme of nation-building and grassroots stabilisation, these structured programmes provided a direct platform for constructive dialogue between the local population and security forces. A total of 252 residents, youths, students and teachers actively participated in these impactful events held across Bishnupur, Thoubal and Tengnoupal districts.

In Bishnupur district, an interactive outreach programme was conducted at Maibam Chingmang Village for 50 residents. Personnel discussed the prevailing security environment and sought vital feedback on issues affecting daily livelihood, farming activities and unrestricted movement. Residents highlighted pressing concerns regarding security and the circulation of rumours. This interaction successfully established a real-time information exchange mechanism at the grassroots level, enabling security forces to identify local vulnerabilities and map out areas requiring responsive security operations tailored to local needs. Villagers were sensitised on maintaining close coordination with the forces and promptly reporting suspicious activities to prevent public disorder. The gathering was also apprised of ongoing humanitarian measures including area domination patrols, medical assistance and enhanced security deployment.

Taking the community engagement forward in Thoubal district, an insightful motivational session was held for 50 youths and parents at Haioraibi Makha Leikai in Lilong. A Pre-Recruitment Team led by Colonel Sahid (Retd) provided detailed guidance on career prospects in the Indian Armed Forces, the Agniveer scheme and Central Armed Police Forces. The session comprehensively covered eligibility criteria, physical fitness standards and preparation strategies. This initiative made a direct impact by steering the potential of local youth towards constructive pursuits, fostering patriotism and offering a structured roadmap for professional employment.

Similarly in Tengnoupal district, “A Day with Company Commander” was organised at New KLP in Moreh for 145 Class X students and seven teachers from prominent educational institutions including Bethal High School, St. George High School, Netaji Memorial High School, Government Higher Secondary School, Dr. Kelvin Academy, MT Moreh Public School and Eklavya Residential Model School. The interaction motivated the students by emphasising the importance of discipline, leadership and selfless service. Friendly volleyball and tug-of-war matches were organised to promote teamwork and healthy competition. The programme concluded with a group photograph alongside the officials of the Assam Rifles unit based in Moreh.

These concurrent initiatives successfully reinforced mutual trust, encouraged productive livelihoods and created stable conditions conducive to long-term socio-economic development and enduring peace across the region.
