Shillong: Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair, the 21st Director General of the Assam Rifles received the prestigious Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) from President Ram Nath Kovind at an investiture ceremony held at New Delhi on Tuesday.
“The General Officer has been bestowed with this prestigious award for his successful command as the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) in Nagaland. He has also been decorated with the Yudh Seva Medal during his command of a Brigade in Manipur and has also
been commended with the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card on three occasions,” a statement issued by the Assam Rifles Headquarters, Shillong said.
“Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair holds vast combat experience in the North East. He commanded his Battalion (18 Sikh) in Assam, has beena Brigade Commander in Manipur and in the recent past was the Inspector General of Assam Rifles in Nagaland,” the statement said.
“His vast experience in the North East, especially as the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) has brought in peace and tranquillity in the region as well as controlled the insurgency.
In his present appointment as the Director General of Assam Rifles, the North East region is to benefit tremendously,” the defence release read.
