Imphal: Assam Rifles personnel celebrated Mother’s Day with local communities in Manipur through two heartfelt programmes that highlighted respect, unity and community bonding.
On 10 May 2026, Assam Rifles organised celebrations with Meira Paibis, the “Mothers of Manipur”, at Nambol, Bishnupur district. The event honoured their role as torchbearers of peace and social harmony. Recreational activities such as musical chairs and volleyball matches brought joy and laughter, with mixed teams of Meira Paibis and Assam Rifles personnel symbolising unity and trust. A touching moment came when the Meira Paibis placed their hands on the heads of the personnel, blessing them like their own sons, and later stood shoulder to shoulder with glowing mashaals, reflecting shared commitment to peace and harmony.
Continuing the spirit of togetherness, Assam Rifles celebrated Mother’s Day at Waikhong, Kakching District, on 11 May 2026. The programme included a sapling plantation drive with local mothers, symbolising the nurturing spirit of motherhood and promoting environmental sustainability. An interactive session fostered dialogue on community welfare and peace-building, while recreational games created an atmosphere of joy and bonding.
Both events witnessed enthusiastic participation from Meira Paibis, local residents and Assam Rifles personnel, totalling over 120 individuals. The celebrations strengthened goodwill reinforcing civil-military relations and highlighted the invaluable role of mothers in fostering harmony and resilience within society.
