Assam, Meghalaya CMs meet Shah over inter-state boundary issue

Meanwhile, Meghalaya CM said that Shah was elated on the initiatives taken by both the states in the matter and his Ministry will examine the reports submitted on the same.

New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad Sangma on Thursday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah here and apprised him on the outcomes of discussions held between both the states to resolve the border dispute. 

 “The meeting lasted for an hour. Both the CMs placed before the Home Minister reports of the regional committees to resolve the inter-state boundary dispute between,” sources said.

The Home Minister will hold another meeting in this regard after January 26, sources added.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya CM said that Shah was elated on the initiatives taken by both the states in the matter and his Ministry will examine the reports submitted on the same.

Informing the same, Sangma in a tweet said, “We apprised Home Minister Amit Shah ji on the reports of the regional committees. He expressed happiness on the initiative taken by both the States in the matter. The Ministry of Home Affairs will examine the reports and we will meet HM again post 26th January.”

The Assam CM also took to twitter and wrote, “We apprised the Home Minister on the outcomes of discussions held between Assam and Meghalaya governments to resolve the border disputes amicably. We’re grateful for his guidance.”
