Guwahati: Amid a surge in Covid 19 cases, Assam Tuesday imposed new restrictions which included closing of all markets, supermarkets and weekly markets by 6 pm every day.
Addressing a press conference here, Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua said that the new guidelines will come into effect immediately, which will be reviewed after three days.
All the guidelines will be applicable in districts which has more than 100 active Covid cases.
Under the new guidelines, not more than 20 people will be allowed in funeral gatherings and up to 100 guests can attend weddings.
All buses will run at 50 per cent capacity.
Moreover, all educational institutes will operate with 50 per cent capacity and online classes should be encouraged, the new guidelines said.
It also stipulated 50 per cent workforce in government and private offices.
