Guwahati: With the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in force in poll-bound Assam, the police on Saturday arrested Assam BJP leader Dipanjali Kakoty Moran for allegedly assaulting a police official in Tinsukia.
Dipankali Kakoty, who allegedly assaulted Kakopathar police station sub-inspector Apurba Das in November last year, was arrested by a team of police from her Tinsukia residence.
Following the incident, the police had registered a case against Kakoty for abusive behaviour, physical assault and obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duty. But, police had not arrested her for last the last four months. The BJP later suspended her for ‘maligning the image of the party’. She was the executive member of the state committee of the Saffron party.
