Asian Boxing Championships 2021: Mary Kom loses in final, takes home Silver

New Delhi: Manipur’s MC Mary Kom crashed to a narrow split-decision defeat against Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay in the women’s 51kg final at the Asian Boxing Championships, in Dubai on Sunday.

The legendary Indian boxer has won the silver medal. The six-time world champion defeated Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg in the semifinals on Thursday, the NDTV reported.

Other than the legendary Indian boxer, three other Indians also have gold medal bouts on Sunday; Pooja Rani (75kg), Anupama (+81kg) and Lalbuatsahi (64kg). Pooja received a walkover in her semi-final clash, and will face Uzbekistan’s Mavluda Movlonova in the summit clash. Meanwhile, Anupama and Lalbuatsahi will face Kazakh boxers in their respective finals.
