Arunachal’s Surgeon Captain Marak Pertin takes command of Indian Naval Hospital Ship Kasturi

Captain Pertin, who assumed command on October 11 last, has become the first Indian Navy Captain from Arunachal Pradesh to command an Indian Naval Hospital Ship, as per reports.

Itanagar: The son of the soil, Surgeon Captain Marak Pertin, who had made Arunachal Pradesh proud by becoming the first Navy officer from the hilly state to be promoted to the rank of Captain in July 2020, has assumed command of Indian Naval Hospital Ship Kasturi at Lonavla, Maharashtra recently.

Captain Pertin, who assumed command on October 11 last, has become the first Indian Navy Captain from Arunachal Pradesh to command an Indian Naval Hospital Ship, as per reports.

Captain Pertin’s tours of duty encompass several important assignments, prestigious courses and challenging tenures at sea, ashore and overseas, informed a Defence spokesperson through a tweet.

“Elevating the pride of Arunachal Pradesh, Surgeon Captain Marak Pertin assumed the command on Indian Naval Hospital Ship Kasturi, Lonavla on 11th of October. We congratulate him on the success and hope this achievement will motivate other aspirants from the state,” ‘MyGov Arunachal Pradesh’ tweeted.

Dr Pertin, son of Gargit Pertin and Betdol Pertin of Parbuk village (Bolik) in Lower Dibang Valley district, has done his MBBS from Government Medical College Kota, Rajasthan. He received his primary education at Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya and secondary education at Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan in Arunachal Pradesh, according to a statement here.
