Arunachal reports 1 COVID death, 54 new cases

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday recorded 54 fresh COVID-19 cases and one more casualty that pushed the State’s death toll to 261.

The fatality was reported from Itanagar Capital Complex. A 56-year-old COVID-19 positive male patient, who was suffering from hypertension, died at the Dedicated COVID Hospital at Chimpu here, informed State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

Meanwhile, with the addition of the 54 new cases, the State’s tally of confirmed cases rose to 53,156, according to a bulletin issued by the state Health Services Directorate here last evening.

Eighteen of the fresh cases were reported from Itanagar Capital Complex, 11 from Lower Subansiri and six from Tawang.

31 of the total cases were turned out to be asymptomatic and 23 symptomatic.

On the other hand, 97 people have recuperated in the period that dipped its active caseload to 829. So far, 52,066 people have recovered from the ailment.

The COVID recovery rate further improved to 97.95 per cent, while the positivity rate currently stands at 1.56 per cent.

The State on Thursday tested 2866 samples for COVID-19 that took its cumulative figure to 10,65,329, as per the bulletin.
