Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) is going to confer the first ever ‘State Democracy Awards’ on the organisations and individuals, who had displayed outstanding performances during general elections of the local bodies in the hilly state in 2020.
The award, instituted by the State poll panel, will be presented by Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra in a function at the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre here on September 15 on the occasion of International Democracy Day coinciding with the completion of “Two Decades of State Election Commission, Arunachal Pradesh”, Nyali Ete, Secretary SEC, said. This occasion is also to acknowledge the support and cooperation extended to the Commission by the State Government and all other stakeholders.
The important events which culminate on the occasion include release of commemorative compendium, essay & painting competitions, cultural events, webinar, etc being organized in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh.
The Awards ceremony is scheduled to be attended by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Home & Panchayati Raj Minister Bamang Felix. Besides, a host of other dignitaries including MLAs, Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Mayor, Deputy Mayor & Corporators, Chief Councillor & Dy Chief Councillor of Pasighat Municipality, Ward Councillors, Zilla Parishad Chairpersons, Zilla Parisahad Members, Chairpersons and Members of various constitutional and statutory bodies and senior State Government officials are also expected to attend it.
