Arunachal logs 449 new Covid19 cases, tally crosses 58k mark

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh on Friday reported 449 fresh Covid19 cases – the highest single-day spike in infection in the third wave – recording the positivity rate at 27.41 per cent, a senior health official said.

With this, the Northeastern state’s active caseload mounted to 2260 and the overall tally of confirmed cases to 58,271, while with 127 recoveries during the past 24 hours the total number of recovered cases rose to 55,729.

Of the new cases, Itanagar Capital Complex accounted for the most cases at 172, followed by Namsai at 47, Papum Pare (40), West Kameng (35), Changlang (29), Lohit (28), East Siang (22), West Siang (18), Tirap (12) and Lower Subansiri (11). 

Lower Siang contracted six cases while five each came from East Kameng and Kamle.254 of the total cases turned out to be asymptomatic and 195 symptomatic, the official said. 

The new cases were found out of the total of 1638 samples tested for Covid19 in the last 24 hours that took its cumulative figure to 12,22,928.

State’s Covid death toll remained at 282 as no fresh casualty was reported in the period.

Meanwhile, altogether 3499 people, including 531 in the 15-18 years age group, have received Covid19 vaccine shots in the past 24 hours, taking the state’s cumulative vaccination coverage to over 15.53 lakh, State Immunization Officer Dr D Padung said.
