Arunachal logs 134 fresh COVID-19 cases

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s active COVID-19 caseload shot up to 352 after 134 people, 37 school children of a boarding school at Banderdewa, tested positive for the infection during the past 24 hours, a senior health official said. 

With this, the Northeastern state’s tally of confirmed cases rose to 55,692, while with the recovery of four persons in the period the state’s total number of recovered cases increased to 55,058.

Of the fresh cases, Itanagar Capital Complex accounted for the highest 63 cases, followed by Papum Pare (23) and Namsai (11). 

Nine cases each were detected in Lohit and West Kameng, seven in Tawang and four in Lower Subansiri, while East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley and West Siang reported two cases each and Pakke-Kessang and Changlang one each.

Sixty-two of the total cases turned out to be symptomatic and 72 asymptomatic, the official said, while adding that the state’s positivity rate was 8.86 per cent.

State’s COVID death toll remained unchanged at 282 as no fresh casualty was reported during the last 24 hours. The recovery rate stands at 99.86 per cent, overall case positivity at 0.63 per cent and the fatality rate at 0.51 per cent.
