Arunachal Guv, CM review work progress of Greenfield Airport project

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra along with Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday reviewed the progress of ongoing construction of Greenfield Airport at Hollongi, about 15 km from the State capital.

Paying a visit to the project site and holding a meeting with the officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI) and senior state government officers, the Governor emphasised that “every work component builder should realize the pressing need, the urgency and the necessity to finish the project at the earliest”.

He advised the project managers and officials for weekly reporting and monitoring of all components of the airport and to take immediate actions to expedite the progress of the work. The Governor exhorted the officials to work with the spirit of ‘We will do it’ in order to accomplish their ‘mission’.

He also suggested involving the local MLA and district administration to address public grievances, administrative bottlenecks, if any, to accelerate the work progress.

The Chief Minister while expressing gratitude to the Governor for his constant monitoring and inspection of the project said it has to be made operational by August 15.

He called for priority clearance by the AAI and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). State Civil Aviation Minister Nakap Nalo, Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia, local MLA Tana Hali Tara and senior officers of the State Government, AAI, and Power Grid were present during the visit.

In the meeting, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and AAI Regional Executive Director Ravi Kant briefed the Governor and Chief Minister about the status, progress and timeline of the works completion.

Civil Aviation Secretary Swapnil M Naik briefed about the progress of peripheral works, while the State government’s security advisor, Major General (Retd) SC Mohanty highlighted the details of the security requirements, including manpower selection, their training, their affiliation for job familiarization and the security personnel’s availability.

Earlier, the Governor and the Chief Minister inspected the ongoing works of the critical structures, runway works, Kokila river diversion measures along with the Chief Secretary, Secretary Civil Aviation, Papum Pare DC & SP and representatives of AAI.
