Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra on Tuesday paid homage to the 20 brave soldiers, who made the supreme sacrifice while protecting our motherland in the Galwan Valley on this day last year.
“I salute them for their bravery, courage, patriotism and supreme sacrifice in their service to the nation, ” he said while joining the people of Arunachal Pradesh in paying gratitude to the martyrs and their family members.
Recalling the supreme sacrifice of the soldiers of the 16th Battalion of the Bihar Regiment, led by their Commanding Officer Col B Santosh Babu, the Governor said that the sacrifice made by our soldiers have not gone in vain.
“They fought gallantly and dropped many enemy soldiers dead. The nation is proud of them and their mission to ensure that every inch of mother India, anywhere, everywhere along the international boundary, is safe and secured. India is a traditionally peace-loving country but when it’s borders are threatened, we are always ready to make any sacrifices,” he said.
Reposing his faith in the capability of Indian Armed Forces, he said that India under present bold and determined political leadership is capable of defending itself against any threat to the nation.
The Governor said that there cannot be any compromise with the integrity and sovereignty of our country.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a social media post, wrote, “My deepest gratitude and humble tribute to Maha Vir Chakara Col B Santosh Babu and all Veer Jawans of 16 Bihar Regiment who made supreme sacrifice defending our motherland from the enemy forces in the Galwan Valley on this day. Your bravery is an inspiration for entire nation. “
