Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Minister Alo Libang on Wednesday informed the Assembly that the Government is in the process of formulating a transfer and posting policy for specialist doctors to rationalise posting of specialist across the state.

While admitting that there is a shortage of more than 200 doctors in the state, Libang said that the department is trying to rationalise the transfer posting of doctors to ensure that no hospital is left abandoned.

He requested his MLA colleagues not to recommend the retention of doctors in the same posting place.

The Minister also said that even with only 18 anesthesiologists, the department is trying to do its best.

The minister was responding to a query from Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong on non posting of specialist doctors at General Hospital Khonsa despite recent appointment of the same by the department.

He also wanted to know the steps taken by the department for posting of specialist doctors particularly of surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology and Anesthesia at General Hospital Khonsa.

Lowangdong said that health being the primary concern of all, why the doctors after being posted are not joining at Khonsa. He felt for a clear cut policy of the government in this regard.

Palin MLA Balo Raja in a supplementary query urged the government for posting of specialist in Kra Daadi district to which the Minister assured to post a medicine specialist at the earliest.

In another supplementary, Taliha MLA Nyato Dokum called for initiating actions against the doctors not complying with the government order.
