Arunachal govt announces nine-day lockdown in Anjaw, Dibang Valley

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government on Friday declared a nine-day lockdown in Anjaw and Dibang Valley districts, starting from 1700 hours on Saturday till 0500 hours on May 31 to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

As per two separate notifications issued by Principal Secretary (Health) Sharat Chauhan, the decision was taken following recommendations from Anjaw and Dibang Valley administration for complete containment (lockdown) measures in their respective district.

However, during the lockdown period, essential services and activities such as healthcare services, police, fire, banks, electricity, water and sanitation, regulated movement of public for buying essential food items, including all incidental services and activities needed for a smooth functioning of these activities shall continue, the notification read.

Such services shall continue in both the public and private sectors, it added.

The Principal Secretary (Health) has also asked Anjaw Deputy Commissioner to substantially increase testing for Covid-19 and send a report on measures taken to strengthen surveillance and contact tracing.

According to the Directorate of Health Services bulletin, till Thursday, active cases in Anjaw stood at 96 and Dibang Valley at 54.

It may be mentioned here that lockdown in Lower Subansiri will began from 0500 hours on Saturday and will continue till 0500 hours on May 31.

Itanagar Capital Region (ICR), Tawang and Lohit are under lockdown till May 31.
