Itanagar: A doctor of a state government hospital was arrested in Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman patient.
According to the police, an ENT specialist of Gyati Taka General Hospital, Ziro has been alleged of sexually assaulting his patient.
The bizarre incident happened on Tuesday (August 30) when the 18-year-old woman went to the doctor for her medical check-up.
“The victim in her FIR alleged that the accused Dr Hano Romesh inserted a finger in her private part when she had come for her medical check-up in the hospital,” Lower Subansiri SP Dr Sachin Kumar Singhal said.
He said that a case was registered at the Ziro Women’s Police Station under Section 376(2) (e) of Indian Penal Code on Thursday following a written complaint and the accused arrested later in the evening.
“The accused doctor was arrested from Yachuli while he was trying to abscond,” the SP informed, adding that further investigation is underway.
The SP further added that medical check-up of the victim has been conducted and the report is awaited.
