Arunachal continues to witness spike in Covid-19 cases; two more succumb

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh continued to witness a spike in Covid-19 cases with the detection of 444 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s caseload to 25,820, while the death toll rose to 109 as two more succumbed to the virus. Of the fresh cases, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 114, followed by Tawang 56 and Changlang 47, as per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services.

Barring 135, all the patients are asymptomatic.

According to the bulletin, two patients succumbed to the virus. A 54-year-old woman from Tawang district expired on Thursday at Military Hospital-Dahung, West Kameng district. Another 54-year-old man from West Kameng district died on Thursday.

On a positive note, 254 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 22,019. The recovery rate is over 85 percent.

Active cases stood at 3,692.
