Arunachal continues to witness spike in Covid-19 cases, tally mounts to 23,159

As per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services, out of the fresh cases of infections, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 89, followed by Changlang 60 and Tawang 40.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh continued to witness a spike in Covid-19 cases with the detection of 360 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s caseload to 23,159.

On the other hand, 214 patients were discharged, taking the total recoveries to 20,339. The recovery rate is around 88 per cent. Active cases stood at 2,731.

As per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services, out of the fresh cases of infections, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 89, followed by Changlang 60 and Tawang 40.

Thirty-one cases were also reported from Lower Subansiri, Lower Dibang Valley 19, Lohit and Upper Subansiri 17 each, West Kameng 16, East Siang, Papum Pare and East Kameng 10 each, Namsai nine, West Siang, Kamle and Upper Siang seven each, Tirap three, Dibang Valley, Shi-Yomi and Pakke Kessang two each, Lower Siang and Anjaw one each, it said.

Barring 177, all the cases are asymptomatic.

In view of the increase in Covid cases in Lohit and Lower Subansiri districts, the Arunachal Pradesh government has accepted the recommendation of district administrations for complete lockdown in both the districts to contain the spread of the virus.

As per the government’s approval, 10-day lockdown in Lohit will begin from 1700 hours this evening and will continue till 0500 hours on May 31, while in Lower Subansiri for nine-day, starting from 0500 hours on May 22 till 0500 hours on May 31.

However, essential services and activities such as healthcare services, police, fire, banks, electricity, water and sanitation, regulated movement of public for buying essential food items shall continue. Such services shall continue in both the public and private sectors.

It may be mentioned here that Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) and Tawang are under lockdown.
