Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh continued to witness a spike in Covid-19 cases with the detection of 165 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 18,062.

On the other hand, 17 patients were discharged, taking the total recoveries to 17,038. The recovery rate is over 94 percent. Active cases stood at 966. Fifty-eight fatalities recorded so far.

As per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services (DHS) , out of the new Covid-19 cases, highest were reported from Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) at 43, followed by Itanagar Capital Complex (ICC) 44, and West Kameng 13.

Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases in LDV, the district administration has imposed 10-day complete lockdown, starting from 0500 hours till 0500 hours of May 9 to contain the spread of the virus.

However, movement of essential items through permission issued by the authorities will be allowed.

Medical services, fire, electricity, water, milk van, sanitation services, pharmacies, BSNL and internet service providers will continue.

It also allowed evacuation of patients, and movement of security forces

The administration also allowed movement of people for vaccination to vaccination centres, provided registration in CoWin portal is shown to the police on duty.

As per the order, inter district movement through LDV as transit shall not be allowed and are to be routed through Dibrugarh (Assam). One time exit pass out of the district shall be issued on application made on two-days in advance to the control room: 9863064149 (WhatsApp)/ dc-ldvalley-arn@nic.in (email) and the pass will be issued in online mode.

According to the bulletin, of the 165 fresh cases of infections, barring 32, all the patients are asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, the State Quarantine Centre Lekhi, near here, is being converted to Paid Quarantine Centre (PQC). Only asymptomatic/ mild symptomatic positive cases those who don’t have accommodations for home isolation shall be admitted here in their own payment.
