Itanagar: As the country achieved the milestone of administering 100 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses to its citizens, Arunachal Pradesh joined the rest of the nation to celebrate this momentous feat with the state leaders felicitating the frontline health warriors for the same.
The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country surpassed the 100 crore (one billion)-mark on Thursday. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, in a tweet, congratulated the country on achieving the feat, and said it was the result of the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Our great nation has today achieved a great accomplishment! PM @NarendraModi ji’s insightful vision has paved the way for this unprecedented record,” he tweeted.
Taking to Twitter, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu wrote: “What India achieved, no other country could. Under the able leadership of PM @narendramodi Ji, India administers 1 billion doses of covid vaccine despite logistic challenges of dispensing vaccine to the vast population. Proud of #CovidWarriors for accomplishing this great feat!”
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who is presently in his hometown, said in a tweet, “Interacted with the doctors, nurses & all frontline warriors at District Hospital Namsai and distributed fruits to indoor patients to celebrate the historic day of reaching the #VaccineCentury. Thanks to the strong and dynamic leadership of Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji.”
At the State capital, senior BJP leaders, including RWD Minister Honchun Ngandam, visited the RK Mission Hospital here, felicitated its doctors and nurses, and distributed fruits to the indoor patients to mark the 100-crore milestone attained in the world’s largest inoculation drive.
Arunachal Pradesh has administered the first dose of anti-COVID vaccine to 76 per cent of its adult populations so far, while 50 per cent of the beneficiaries have been fully vaccinated since the launch of the countrywide vaccination drive on January 16 last.
