Itanagar: The Tenth (Monsoon) Session of the Seventh Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will commence here on Tuesday, in which the State Government will table a key Bill, which will ‘enable creation of adequate rental housing stock for all income groups thereby addressing the issue of homelessness’.
The session will commence at 10 am in the Legislative Assembly chamber. The House session was earlier scheduled to begin from Monday (Sept 5) but the Business Advisory Committee had rescheduled it on account of the Teachers’ Day celebration.
According to the list of business of the three-day Monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly, Town Planning Minister Kamlung Mosang, on the opening day, will introduce ‘The Arunachal Pradesh Tenancy Bill, 2022’, which aims at creating a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive rental housing market in the state.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister-in-charge of Tax, Excise and Narcotics Chowna Mein will table ‘The Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Service Tax (1st Amendment) Bill, 2022’, whilst Chief Minister Pema Khandu, also the Minister-in-charge of Law, Legislative and Justice will introduce ‘The Arunachal Pradesh Civil Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2022’.
The House will also take up and is likely to pass a Government resolution regarding the re-naming of the newly-built Greenfield Airport, Hollongi near the State capital as ‘Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar’ – a move to “reflect the people’s age-old indigenous reverence on the Sun (Donyi) and the Moon (Polo) to symbolize the age-old tradition and rich cultural heritage of the tribal State”.
The day’s proceedings will start with an Obituary Reference in respect of former Arunachal Minister Changkom Hondik, who expired on June 17 last at the age of 62 years after a prolonged illness.
