Arunachal: 70 more test positive; two succumb

An 82-year-old woman with a pre-existing health condition, who was tested positive for Covid-19, passed away on Saturday night at DCHC Roing in LDV district.

Itanagar: As many as 70 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Arunachal, taking the state’s caseload to 17,607, while the fatalities toll rose to 58 as the state reported two casualties.

Of the fresh new cases, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 13, followed by Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) 20 and West Kameng 12, as per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services (DHS).

Barring 20, all the patients are asymtomatic.

According to the bulletin issued by the DHS last night, the state reported two deaths-first in the second wave of the pandemic.

An 82-year-old woman with a pre-existing health condition, who was tested positive for Covid-19, passed away on Saturday night at DCHC Roing in LDV district.

While a 52-year-old woman with comorbid conditions, who was first admitted to DCHC Roing following worsening of symptoms from home isolation, and later referred to DCH Pasighat in East Siang district, expired on Sunday morning.

Both the bodies were handed over to their relatives in body bags after sanitisation as per SOP.

On the other hand, 28 patients were discharged following recovery from the virus, taking the total recoveries to 16,968.

Active cases stood at 590.
