Army jawan allegedly commits suicide

Initial reports say that it seems to be a suicide case but the body has been shifted to the mortuary for postmortem for more details.

Jammu: An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle on Sunday morning in Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said that the jawan, identified as Naik DS Negi, who hailed from Dehradun, was found dead near his barrack at Palma area of Rajouri.

“The jawan was on duty and on hearing a gunshot, his colleagues rushed to the spot and found him in a pool of blood,” police said.

The police said that the bullet was fired near his chin, adding, “he was rushed to the hospital but declared as brought dead.”

A case has been registered and investigation has started, added the police.
