Imphal: Five ‘misguided’ youths belonging to two out-lawed organisations were handed over to their families by Assam Rifles here on Saturday.

The five youths – Pheiroijam Wilson Luwang of Khurai, Victor Takhelmayum, Nongpok Sanjenbam, Laishram Rohit, Yairipok Nongrom, Malemnganba, Laingoubi village and Amarjeet Khundrakapam of Sagolband – were handed over by Major General Ravroop Singh, in a simple ceremony held at South IGAR, Imphal.

All the cadres except Ph. Wilson (PREPAK-RPO), all the remaining cadres belonged to RPF/PLA and all of of them joined the out-law organisations less than a year ago, said an official of the Assam Rifles.

 Officials said their return to the fold of families and reunited with families and loved ones are a reminder of the transformative power of forgiveness and redemption.  This is not merely a homecoming, it is a reaffirmation of the collective resolve of the Assam Rifles to build a future where peace and harmony are reinstated in Manipur.
